April 25th, 2010. Over 40 hard-core Gregory fans braved the cold spring day to show up for the Great Wall hike, with Wayne Gregory, an outdoor legend and founder of Gregory Moutain Products.
The early morning hike with Wayne and Dion Goldsworthy, Director of International Sales and Marketing, at the Badaling section of the Great Wall was received with great fanfare by the core outdoor enthusiasts in Beijing. Participants showed up in near freezin temperature to see and speak with their idol.
Wayne was struck by the grand scale and architecture of the Great Wall. “I’ve never seen anything like it!” he enthuses.
The climb up was long and, at times, sketchy. After a hour of vertical ascent, Wayne caught his breath and gave a heartening speech to those who made it to the top of the wall. “I am impressed with the youth of China,” Wayne said, “As long as you have the determination and will to succeed, you will be. I started my company with 500 dollars, and not having the money to start will not stop you either.”
Great words and inspiration for those in the crowd who perhaps one day will embark on their own journey to build a great company.
