The 2010 annual CORA Outdoor School finished up in Huairou, an hour drive north of Beijing, with a trail running competition to cap off an exciting three-day intense classroom style training camp.
As with the past, this year’s CORA Outdoor School focuses on product technology, sales techniques, product merchandising, and perhaps most importantly, friendship among its 60+ participants from some 40 outdoor specialty shops all over China.
This year’s Outdoor School was presented by CORDURA, with lots of help from our friends at Amphilon Co., distributor of quality brands like Salomon, Suunto and Edelrid. The camp was held at the picturesque Tianchi Gorge in Huairou. Multiple seminars covered topics from technical fabrics, to footwear, outdoor watches, and climbing equipments. The highlight of the camp is a talk given by Liu Fu Gui, the renowned mountaineer from Dalian who have summited Mt. Everest twice, including the torch relay summit for the 2008 Beijing Olympic games! His account of his making from a street vendor to a renowned climber brought the audience to their feet.
Finally, an exciting 5- K trail running competion through the nearby hills gave the participants a reason to cheer for each other. Top three finishers walked away in a brand new pair of comfy running shoes.
