Well-known American river guide Travis Winn held a lively river rafting seminar at the CORA concept store in Beijing on October 28, 2009.
The event attracted a fair number of outdoor enthusiasts with over 50 in attendance. Travis told the his recent stories on Chinese rivers and introduced what is true river rafting in western China. He gave a colorful slide show to shared his experience with the audience. As well, he did a analysis of the current status of China’s rivers from an environmental point of view. The presentation ended with a call to protect China’s rivers from the current over-building of hydro dams in western China.
Travis also shared his own experiences with wearing Patagonia clothing, which, of course, we really liked. We hopes to continue contribute to China’s environmental protection with his team through their work on river rafting and grassroot awareness of environmental protection for the rivers that feed us.
CORA aims to provide a communication platform for outdoor enthusiasts with our seminars and our Web site. We hope that more people can enjoy river rafting and other white water sports, while more attention will be paid to the protection of China’s rivers as the sports develop.
